His early life and career is fascinating.<BR/><BR/>I'm sure there must be some good books on Carter, also. Politics is often about being able to work with others, and Carter's biggest weakness may have been that he felt that leadership was charting what he felt was the best course, and that others would follow.<BR/><BR/>For good or for bad, Johnson knew how to drag others along with him, kicking and screaming.
